Emirates closed 2025 on a strong note after carrying 55.6 million customers across its global network.
According to its 2025 year-in-review, Emirates operated nearly 180,580 flights, effectively circling the Earth 29,290 times, while placing firm orders for 73 new aircraft. Although the airline celebrated its 40th anniversary in October, Emirates said the year was defined more by forward-looking investments than past achievements.
Emirates A350 enters service and network grows
One of the standout developments in 2025 was the entry of the Emirates A350 into commercial service. The aircraft made its maiden flight to Edinburgh in January, and by year-end, 16 A350s were flying to 18 destinations across Europe, West Asia, the Middle East and Australia. The A350 network is set to expand further in 2026 with a planned debut in Montreal.
Strong push into Asia
Emirates strengthened its presence in Asia by launching new non-stop daily services to Shenzhen and Hangzhou in mainland China. The airline also added routes to Danang, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia via Bangkok, reflecting growing demand for travel and trade across East Asia.
Premium Economy expansion accelerates
Responding to strong customer demand, Emirates significantly expanded its Premium Economy offering. By the end of 2025, nearly 70 cities were served by more than 100 aircraft equipped with the cabin, representing around 40% of the airline’s passenger fleet.
Starlink Wi-Fi rollout
Connectivity also took a major leap forward with the announcement of Starlink Wi-Fi installation across 232 aircraft. Starting with Boeing 777s, Emirates plans to become the first airline to operate Starlink-equipped A380s in early 2026, offering complimentary high-speed internet across all cabin classes.
Major sports partnerships
Emirates further strengthened its global brand presence through nine major sports sponsorship deals and renewals in 2025.
Highlights included a seven-year partnership with FC Bayern Munich, a historic contract extension with World Rugby through 2035 and new agreements with European Professional Club Rugby, Real Madrid Basketball and other elite sporting organisations.
Emirates Courier Express launched
The airline also entered the logistics space with the launch of Emirates Courier Express, offering faster cross-border deliveries by transporting packages directly on passenger flights. The service now operates in 10 international markets, has handled over 50,000 packages, and averages three-day delivery times.
Emirates Skywards marks 25 years
Emirates’ loyalty programme, Skywards, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025. The programme now has 37 million members worldwide and continues to grow, adding around 78,000 new members each week, reinforcing its position as one of aviation’s most valuable loyalty platforms.
Sustainability, inclusion and service enhancements
The year also saw progress in corporate social responsibility through initiatives such as Aircrafted KIDS, which distributed over 3,700 upcycled backpacks to children across eight countries.
Emirates also became the world’s first Autism Certified Airline™, expanded accessible travel services, and introduced new onboard and ground experience upgrades for premium and family travellers.
