Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad has announced that it will officially retire its legacy digital banking services, the GO by Bank Islam mobile app and the online banking portal www.bankislam.biz effective 28 June 2025.

The bank is urging all customers still using these platforms to switch to its new and improved services, BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web, in order to avoid any disruption to their online banking activities.

The decision to decommission the older platforms earlier than expected was driven by the overwhelming response to the bank’s new digital offerings, which were launched in November 2024.

Bank Islam reported that more than 90 percent of its user base has already migrated to the new platforms, prompting the bank to bring forward the original decommissioning date from November 2025 to June.

The newer platforms BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web (accessible at web.bimb.com) offer a modernized, more secure, and more user-friendly banking experience. Since their launch, they have received strong ratings and positive reviews from users, with the mobile app earning a score of 4.8 on the Apple App Store, 4.7 on the Google Play Store, and 4.0 on the Huawei AppGallery.

Bank Islam highlighted that the new platforms are designed to provide a seamless digital experience, combining a sleek interface with enhanced security features.

Users can log in using biometric authentication and carry out secure transactions with greater ease.

The platforms support a full suite of banking services including balance checks, fund transfers, bill payments, DuitNow QR transactions, zakat contributions, debit card management, and access to the newly introduced Bank Islam Gold Account-i.

In line with its commitment to digital innovation, Bank Islam has also announced several new features that will soon be integrated into BIMB Mobile.

These include the ability to make QR-based payments in selected countries, seamless onboarding for new customers without the need to visit a physical branch, and secure international fund transfers.

Another upcoming feature is BIMB Mobile Lite, a simplified version of the app aimed at promoting financial literacy among digital-savvy youths aged 12 and above.

The bank emphasized that its shift to enhanced digital solutions is part of a broader strategy to meet the evolving needs of customers and to ensure a safer, more efficient banking environment.

Customers who continue to use the old mobile app or website after 28 June will no longer have access to their online banking accounts unless they migrate to the new platforms.
