PUMA has partnered with Shincell New Materials, a Chinese company specializing in advanced foam materials, to develop the next generation of PUMA’s NITRO™ running foam technology used in performance running shoes.
As part of the collaboration, both companies will establish a dedicated research laboratory in Suzhou, China, where they will test new materials and technologies to further improve the performance of NITRO™ foam.
The first products developed through this partnership are expected to be launched in the coming seasons.
Shincell is known for its sustainable foaming technology, which uses a physical process involving gases to create lightweight foam materials filled with micro and nano bubbles.
This process helps produce lightweight, responsive cushioning, which is key for high-performance running shoes.
PUMA introduced NITRO™ technology in 2021 to enhance its running product lineup. The foam is designed to be extremely lightweight and energy-efficient, helping runners perform more comfortably and efficiently.
The technology has already been tested by more than 250 athletes in major marathons such as Boston, London, and New York, with many achieving new personal bests.
Not only that, NITRO™ technology is also used in other PUMA sports categories including training, football, basketball, and golf.
