Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is strengthening its international presence with a new RM705 million contract in Kuwait, awarded to its wholly owned subsidiary, TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB REMACO).
The seven-year agreement involves a strategic partnership with Kuwait-based Al Dhow Engineering to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the Sabiya Power Generation and Water Distillation Plant. The plant plays an important role in Kuwait’s energy infrastructure, with a capacity of 299.4 megawatts.
TNB President and CEO, Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, said the partnership reflects Kuwait’s trust in TNB REMACO’s technical expertise and aligns with the group’s ambition to deliver sustainable energy solutions both locally and abroad.
“This contract aligns with TNB’s mission to be a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, both in Malaysia and internationally.
“Beyond Kuwait, our global footprint extends to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Cambodia,” he added.

Since entering Kuwait’s energy sector in 2013, TNB REMACO has been actively involved in the region. The company currently manages 11 ongoing projects in Kuwait, with a combined value exceeding RM4.54 billion.
Dato’ Ir. Muhamad Nazri Pazil, Managing Director of TNB Genco and Chairman of TNB REMACO, emphasized the company’s readiness to grow further, citing its established track record and technical capabilities in power plant operations and maintenance.
The contract signing ceremony was held on 12 March 2025 at the National Bank of Kuwait headquarters, marking a significant milestone in TNB REMACO’s global expansion.
