The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) are currently holding Exercise Elang Indopura at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Pekanbaru from 13 to 26 May 2025, celebrating 45 years of defence cooperation between the two countries.
The biennial bilateral exercise involves more than 100 personnel from both air forces. This year’s edition includes four RSAF F-16C/D fighter jets, one A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), and two TNI AU F-16 aircraft.
First held in 1980, Exercise Elang Indopura serves as a key platform to enhance operational coordination and strengthen ties between the two forces. As part of the 2025 edition, F-16 fighter jets from both countries engaged in air-to-air refuelling operations using the RSAF A330 MRTT and conducted joint air-to-ground training at the Siabu Air Weapons Range.

RSAF Exercise Director, Colonel Jonavan Ang, highlighted the importance of the joint exercise.
“The training brings our aircrew and ground crew together to develop operational competencies, as well as strengthen the camaraderie amongst our people.
“It is an invaluable experience for all participants, and I look forward to many such opportunities to deepen our bilateral cooperation,” he said.
Beyond joint training, the RSAF and TNI AU regularly engage in a broad range of activities, including cross-attendance of military courses, professional exchanges, and reciprocal visits, reflecting the deep and enduring relationship between the two countries.
Exercise Elang Indopura continues to underscore the mutual trust, professionalism, and long-standing cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia in the area of defence.
