Samsung Electronics has enhanced the onboard experience of Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon-class cruise ship, Star of the Seas, by installing more than 6,000 hospitality TVs and Smart Signage displays.

These screens are now found in guest cabins, crew quarters and public spaces throughout the vessel, helping create a more connected, modern and convenient environment for everyone onboard.

The Star of the Seas, which completed its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, in August 2025, is designed as one of the world’s best family vacation ships, and Samsung’s technology plays a key role in elevating that experience.

Inside each guest cabin, Samsung has installed its Crystal UHD Hospitality TVs (HBU8000 model), which are specially designed for hotels and cruise environments. These TVs provide bright, vibrant 4K picture quality with lifelike colors through Dynamic Crystal Color technology, ensuring that guests can enjoy clear and engaging entertainment throughout their trip.

Beyond entertainment, the TVs function as an information hub where guests can view personalized welcome messages, daily activity schedules, weather updates, destination information and important announcements.

The system also allows guests to rewatch onboard programs or revisit announcements they may have missed. Around the ship’s public areas including lounges, theaters and shared spaces Samsung’s ultra-slim QMC series Smart Signage displays deliver high-resolution visuals while taking up minimal space, allowing Royal Caribbean to share updates and content more efficiently.

Samsung and Royal Caribbean’s close relationship spans more than 21 years. Since 2004, Samsung has supplied over 200,000 displays across 28 ships in Royal Caribbean’s global fleet, solidifying its role as the cruise line’s primary display technology partner.

This long-term partnership includes installations on Icon of the Seas, the sister ship that debuted in 2024 with a similar scale of Samsung display technology.

Samsung has also held the position of global leader in the commercial display market for 17 consecutive years.

According to Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, Hoon Chung, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to innovation and world-class guest experiences, and Samsung aims to continue expanding its contributions as demand for advanced onboard entertainment grows.

Alongside its cruise ship installations, Samsung is also introducing a new display model for smaller hospitality spaces: the HF8000F, a 24-inch TV designed for compact rooms such as crew cabins, hotel rooms and hospital spaces.

Despite its smaller size, the HF8000F includes many of the same technological features found in Samsung’s larger 2025 hospitality lineup, such as Google Cast, Apple AirPlay, Samsung LYNK Cloud for remote management, Samsung Knox security, Samsung TV Plus and Smart Hub. This model is now available in several major markets including the United States, Canada, Australia and Singapore.
