Qatar’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 112.39 points in December 2025, up 1.44% from November and 1.95% year-on-year, according to figures released by the National Planning Council.

On a monthly basis, price increases were recorded across eight major spending groups, while one group declined and three remained unchanged.

Entertainment and culture posted the largest monthly rise at 6.84%, followed by other goods and services at 1.87% and restaurants and hotels at 1.71%.

Prices also increased in clothing and footwear (0.89%), transport (0.71%), communications (0.35%), food and beverages (0.19%), and housing, water and electricity (0.15%).

Education was the only category to record a monthly decline, edging down 0.02%. Tobacco, furniture, and health prices showed no change compared with November.

Compared with December 2024, the CPI increase was driven mainly by a sharp rise in other goods and services, which climbed 18.68%.

Clothing and footwear rose 3.28%, education increased 2.04%, and housing, water and electricity gained 1.50%. Additional increases were recorded in entertainment and culture (1.44%), furniture and household appliances (1.39%), food and beverages (0.63%), and communications (0.17%).

Meanwhile, prices declined year-on-year in health (-0.75%), restaurants and hotels (-0.65%), and transport (-0.42%). Tobacco prices remained unchanged over the same period.

Excluding housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, the CPI reached 117.68 points in December 2025. This represented a monthly increase of 1.71% and an annual rise of 2.05%, the council said.
