
PROTON recorded an encouraging performance for the first quarter of 2025, with a significant sales surge in March which recorded 13,918 units up to 23.9% compared to February and 9.6% higher than March 2024.
The achievement contributed to an estimated market share of 19.4%of the total industry volume (TIV) estimated at 71,596 units for the month.
Overall, PROTON sales for the first quarter of 2025 reached 35,068 units, equivalent to 18.9% of the TIV of 184,652 units. This surge was driven by strong performance across all model lines, increased exports, and positive reception for new energy vehicles (NEVs), particularly the Proton e.MAS 7.
The Proton e.MAS 7 has achieved outstanding success as the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia, with cumulative sales of 1,853 units for the first quarter, including 797 units in March
This model is PROTON's first battery EV and has received encouraging reception in the domestic and international markets since its launch.

In the internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle segment, the Proton S70 remains the leader in the C-segment sedans with 2,125 units sold in March, up 77.5% compared to February. Total sales as of March reached 4,465 units.
Proton X90, a D-segment SUV, recorded a 73.6%increase to 302 units, while Proton X50 remained PROTON's best-selling SUV with 1,858 units sold last month, bringing the first quarter total to 5,117 units.
Proton X70 also showed a resurgence with 835 units sold in March, an 11.9%increase, and first quarter totals rose 52% to 2,158 units.
The legendary Proton Saga model recorded its highest monthly sales to date with 6,154 units in March, an 22.5% increase, while Proton Persona and Proton Iriz also recorded their best sales months of the year with 1,482 units and 337 units, respectively.
PROTON's export sales also recorded significant growth, increasing 211% in March to 417 units, driven by Proton Saga deliveries to overseas markets which now reach 410 units for the year.
New markets such as Nepal and Trinidad & Tobago also contributed to this growth through deliveries of new EV models.
