PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) will temporarily close the Smart Lane on the North-South Expressway (NSE) southbound between KM26.5 and KM19.3, from Kulai to Senai, starting 22 September 2025.
The closure is part of the Additional Lane Project from Senai Utara to Kulai (Phase 1 Package B), which aims to increase highway capacity, reduce congestion, and improve safety for motorists.
To minimise disruption, PLUS confirmed that the two main lanes along this stretch will remain open throughout construction. This will help maintain traffic flow while allowing critical infrastructure upgrades to progress.
The Smart Lane closure is necessary to make way for expansion works that will eventually ease traffic bottlenecks, especially during peak hours and festive seasons. PLUS assured motorists that every effort is being made to ensure smoother journeys despite ongoing construction.
Highway users are advised to plan their travel routes in advance using the PLUS App, which provides live traffic updates, estimated travel times, and alternative routes.
PLUS also reminded motorists to:
- Obey all traffic signages at the construction site.
- Follow directions from PLUS personnel stationed along the affected stretch.
- Drive cautiously to ensure safety for themselves, other road users, and construction workers.
Real-Time Traffic Information Available
PLUS continues to provide multiple channels for real-time updates and assistance:
- PUTRI Virtual Assistant on the PLUS website and app.
- X@plustrafik for latest traffic alerts.
- Electronic signboards (VMS) placed at selected highway locations.
- PLUSLine hotline (1800-88-0000) for emergencies.
These channels ensure that motorists can make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary delays.
The Additional Lane Project is part of PLUS’ broader effort to strengthen the NSE infrastructure, one of the busiest expressways in Malaysia. By upgrading the Senai Utara–Kulai stretch, PLUS aims to provide long-term improvements in traffic flow, highway safety, and driving comfort.
PLUS also extended its appreciation to all highway users for their patience and cooperation during the construction period, emphasising that the project is for the greater benefit of all motorists.
