President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended the nation’s gratitude and admiration to the 89 members of the Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent for their successful mission in earthquake-stricken Myanmar.

In a press briefing held at Malacanang, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer, Claire Castro relayed the President’s commendation, highlighting the team’s courage and strong sense of duty.

“They were given commendation for their bravery and dedication in fulfilling their responsibilities.

“To everyone who went to Myanmar and extended help, we thank you. Your actions are truly commendable,” she added.

The deployment was part of the “One ASEAN, One Response” initiative, which promotes regional solidarity and a coordinated disaster response among ASEAN nations.

Following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that hit Myanmar on March 28, the Philippine contingent helped deliver 19,458 pounds of essential humanitarian aid to affected communities.
