Subaru has officially revealed the all-new 2026 Outback at the New York International Auto Show, as the brand celebrates the 30th anniversary of its iconic SUV.
The seventh-generation Outback introduces a bolder exterior design, a modern and spacious interior, and a host of advanced technology and safety features.
One of the most notable upgrades is the new 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, paired with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster now standard across all variants. Subaru’s latest EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology supports hands-free highway driving at speeds up to 85 mph (136 km/h), along with adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and lane keeping assistance.
Inside, the cabin is quieter and more refined, with upgraded seats designed for better comfort during long journeys.
The cargo area has been expanded to 34.6 cubic feet, and thoughtful updates like redesigned cupholders, increased use of recycled materials, and improved sound insulation enhance daily usability.

The 2026 Outback also embraces its adventurous spirit. It comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and an improved X-MODE® for better off-road handling.
The roof rails now support up to 220 pounds of lateral load, a first for Subaru allowing users to hang hammocks or secure gear for camping trips.
Buyers will have two engine options, a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated BOXER engine (180 hp) or a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine (260 hp), exclusive to the XT and Wilderness models.
The 2026 Subaru Outback will be offered in six trims Premium, Limited, Touring, Limited XT, Touring XT, and Wilderness and is set to arrive at U.S. dealerships by late 2025.
