Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn), for the OEM supply of a new electric vehicle (EV) model.
Under the agreement, Foxtron will develop the EV, which will be manufactured in Taiwan by Yulon Motor Co., Ltd.
The vehicle is scheduled to be introduced in the Oceania region, specifically Australia and New Zealand in the second half of 2026.
The model, which features high EV driving performance and a sophisticated infotainment system, is designed to meet the specific demands of the Oceania market and is part of Mitsubishi’s previously announced product roadmap for the region through 2030.
This initiative is part of Mitsubishi Motors’ broader environmental strategy to enhance its lineup of electrified vehicles. In addition to the upcoming model, Mitsubishi has plans to update the Outlander PHEV and add hybrid variants to popular models like the Xpander and Xforce in the ASEAN market.

Alongside the collaboration with Foxconn, Mitsubishi Motors intends to leverage its existing partnerships within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
These efforts include sourcing OEM models from Renault for Europe and Nissan for North America, with potential expansion of such collaborations into Oceania and other markets.
The company aims to increase the proportion of electrified vehicles in its portfolio to 100% by 2035 as part of its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.
Further discussions will be held between Mitsubishi Motors and Foxtron to finalize a definitive agreement.
