Mercedes-Benz Group AG reported sales of 529,200 cars and vans in the first quarter of 2025, amid a dynamic global market environment and ahead of the launch of the all-new CLA model.

Of this total, 446,300 units were passenger vehicle sales, with demand for the Mercedes-AMG and G-Class models continuing to record significant increases of 17% and 18% respectively. Strong demand for the E-Class (+32%) and GLC (+14%) models also contributed to the positive sales performance.

Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG for Sales & Marketing, Mathias Geisen, said that despite mixed developments worldwide, markets such as North America and South Korea recorded encouraging growth.

“Mercedes-AMG and the G-Class delivered once more a strong sales performance underscoring the attractiveness of the Top-End segment,” he said in a statement.

Sales in the Top-End segment reached 65,100 units, accounting for 14.6% of total sales, a slight increase compared to the first quarter of 2024 (14.4%). Mercedes-Benz also maintained its position as the leader in the RMB 1 million and above luxury car market in China.

Mercedes-Maybach also expanded its product portfolio and retail presence with the launch of the new SL model in Europe and the opening of its first exclusive lounge in Manhattan, USA next week.

The Core segment saw stable sales of 263,400 units, with the GLC and E-Class models remaining among the main contributors.

Meanwhile, sales of Plug-In Hybrid vehicles increased by 8%, mainly driven by the US market. However, sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) recorded a slight decrease compared to the previous year, due to the discontinuation of the electric smart model in Europe and changing market patterns.
