Bali is set to become more accessible to South Australians when Indonesia AirAsia begins direct flights from Denpasar to Adelaide from 25 June 2025, marking the airline’s first time operating from the South Australian capital.

The new route is expected to strengthen bilateral tourism ties between Indonesia and Australia and open up more connectivity opportunities to more than 130 destinations across AirAsia’s network in Asia and beyond, with Bali as its main hub.

Indonesia AirAsia will operate four flights per week using its 180-seat A320-200 aircraft. The route will add more than 74,000 seats per year through Adelaide Airport. Flights from Adelaide are scheduled to depart every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while from Denpasar every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Indonesia AirAsia CEO Veranita Yosephine said Australia is an important market for AirAsia and they are excited to expand their reach to Adelaide after previously introducing routes to Cairns, Darwin and Perth.

“Our FlyThru international connecting services from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Phuket via Bali mean you can reach your destination on the same day seamlessly without needing to transfer luggage or check in for the second flight to get there,” she said.

On the other hand, Managing Director of Adelaine Airport, Brenton Cox, mentioned that Bali is the most popular destination for South Australian travelers, and there is considerable unmet demand for affordable flights.
