Emirates and Air Mauritius have officially renewed their long standing partnership, reinforcing cooperation in key areas such as codeshare flights, frequent flyer programmes, and cargo services.

This renewed agreement marks another milestone in a collaboration that first began in 2003 and was last enhanced in 2013.

The two airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mauritius, solidifying their mutual commitment to offer greater connectivity and travel convenience for passengers.

As part of the agreement, both carriers will continue a reciprocal code sharing arrangement, enabling travellers to seamlessly fly on selected routes operated by either airline using a single ticket.

Air Mauritius will be able to place its code on Emirates-operated flights to several destinations including Cairo, Colombo, Karachi, Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh. In return, Emirates will codeshare on Air Mauritius’ service to Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The partnership also includes closer cooperation on frequent flyer programmes, allowing members to earn and redeem points across both networks. The two airlines will work together to streamline cargo operations, contributing to trade between Mauritius and global markets.

Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Adnan Kazim, said the partnership has played a vital role in connecting Mauritius with the world, benefiting both travellers and the national economy.

He noted that Emirates’ operations have generated approximately USD 900 million in annual benefits for Mauritius, including direct revenues from flights, tourism receipts, and wider economic impact through tourism-related spending. The airline’s presence has also supported the creation of around 3,600 jobs across the country.

Meanwhile Chairman of Air Mauritius, Kishore Beegoo expressed strong support for the partnership, calling Emirates one of the airline’s key strategic partners. He said the renewed agreement enhances the existing collaboration and allows both airlines to better serve passengers while supporting Mauritius’ position as a premier tourism destination.

Emirates currently operates 14 weekly flights between Dubai and Mauritius, all operated by its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft. It remains the only airline offering the double-decker plane to the island, and the only one providing First Class service on the route.

This partnership is part of Emirates’ broader global strategy, which includes commercial cooperation with 164 interline, codeshare, and intermodal partners, helping the airline extend its reach to nearly 1,800 cities worldwide.
