Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has ordered all executive branch state office buildings to close to the public on Monday, January 26, 2026, as a major winter storm continues to impact the state.
Under the storm-related directive, Level 1 executive branch employees, classified as essential workers, are required to report to work as scheduled or as directed by their agencies. Level 2 employees, considered nonessential, are instructed not to report to work for the day.
Governor Lamont urged residents to limit travel, citing safety concerns and the need to keep roads clear for snowplows and emergency crews.
He said the storm had not fully passed and conditions could remain hazardous throughout the day.
The closure applies only to executive branch offices. Operations of the judicial and legislative branches will be determined separately by their respective leadership.
An emergency order remains in effect restricting commercial vehicles, including trucks, tractor-trailers, RVs, and vehicles with trailers, from using all limited-access highways in Connecticut until further notice.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed through the state’s CT Alert notification system and visit CTPrepares for emergency updates and resources.
