CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic Bank have announced that they will cease sending SMS-based transaction notifications, also known as Post Transaction Alerts (PTAs), to customers starting 17 May 2025.
This move is part of a shift toward enhanced digital security and improved customer experience through the CIMB OCTO App.
According to the bank, all future transaction alerts will be delivered exclusively via push notifications on the CIMB OCTO App.
Customers are strongly encouraged to ensure that push notifications are enabled on their mobile devices to continue receiving real-time updates on their account activities.

CIMB clarified that while SMS PTAs will be discontinued, customers can still view their transaction history and receive alerts through the app, which is designed to offer a more secure and centralized platform for digital banking.
This update follows the bank’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its digital services under the CIMB OCTO App, especially after announcing the discontinuation of the CIMB Clicks App, which officially ends on 19 April 2025.
Customers who have not yet made the switch are advised to download the CIMB OCTO App and activate notifications to stay informed of their banking transactions. For further assistance, users can visit the CIMB website or contact customer support.
