According to the Bank Negara Malaysia Press Release on 10 April 2025, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Bank of Thailand (BOT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity and efforts to combat cross-border digital fraud.

Through this MoU, both central banks will enhance information sharing, capacity building, and exchange of best practices in addressing increasingly complex digital security challenges.

BNM Governor Dato’ Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said this strategic collaboration will help strengthen the resilience of financial institutions and protect consumers from growing cyber threats.

“This partnership with Bank of Thailand will significantly deepen our cooperation in cybersecurity and the fight against digital fraud,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, BOT Governor Dr. Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput described this close collaboration as evidence of their joint commitment to ensuring the security of the regional financial system.

This MoU signifies the long-term commitment of both institutions in strengthening digital security and creating a safer and more resilient financial ecosystem.
