Batik Air has announced the launch of Malaysia’s first-ever direct commercial flight to Dili, Timor-Leste, as a major milestone in regional aviation connectivity.
Set to commence on 6 June 2025, the new route will operate twice weekly, offering travellers a journey without the need for multiple layovers.
Batik Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said the route represents a significant step forward in expanding the airline’s regional network and supporting economic ties between Malaysia and Timor-Leste.
“This new service will also further strengthen Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA T1) as a key strategic transit hub in the region,” he said.
He added that the route aligns with Batik Air’s vision to connect emerging destinations and is expected to strengthen educational exchanges, cultural ties, and tourism between the two nations.

Through Kuala Lumpur, passengers from Timor-Leste will also gain access to more than 60 destinations across 20 countries, including cities in ASEAN, China, North Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
Dili, located on the shores of the Timor Sea, offers a unique blend of Portuguese colonial heritage, unspoiled beaches, world-class diving spots, and rich cultural experiences making it a hidden gem in Southeast Asia.
The route will be served by Batik Air’s Boeing 737 aircraft, with a variety of fare options available to suit different travel needs, including flexible schedules, in-flight meals, and baggage allowances.
