Apple has announced two new product updates, introducing a next-generation AirTag with enhanced tracking capabilities and unveiling a special-edition Black Unity Apple Watch band in conjunction with Black History Month.
The new AirTag comes with a significantly improved finding range, powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
Precision Finding now works from up to 50% farther away, while an upgraded Bluetooth connection helps users locate items over longer distances.
Apple has also redesigned the internal speaker, making it 50% louder and easier to hear when searching for misplaced belongings.
For the first time, Precision Finding is available on compatible Apple Watch models, allowing users to locate their AirTag directly from their wrist. The AirTag continues to work with Apple’s Find My network and supports Share Item Location, an iOS feature that lets users securely share the location of lost items with trusted third parties such as airlines.
Apple says this feature has helped reduce baggage delays and cases of unrecoverable luggage.
Despite the hardware upgrades, the new AirTag maintains the same design, pricing, and accessory compatibility as the previous generation.
Apple has also increased the use of recycled materials in line with its environmental goals, while continuing to emphasise privacy protections and safeguards against unwanted tracking.

Alongside the AirTag update, Apple has unveiled the Black Unity Apple Watch band, a special-edition Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop designed to celebrate the power of connection and honour Black History Month.
The band was created by Black creatives and allies at Apple and features the colours of the Pan-African flag woven into a textured, sweat- and water-resistant design made from recycled materials.
As part of the Black Unity initiative, Apple is supporting organisations that promote creativity and opportunity in under-resourced communities through global grants.
The Black Unity Apple Watch band is available in multiple sizes and is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later models.
Both the new AirTag and the Black Unity Apple Watch band are available to order now through Apple’s official channels.
