Apple has officially launched CarPlay Ultra, the next generation of its in-car technology platform, with luxury automaker Aston Martin becoming the first brand to integrate the new system into its vehicles.
The rollout begins with new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the United States and Canada, with support for existing models to follow through a software update in the coming weeks.
CarPlay Ultra offers a significantly enhanced in-car experience by providing deep integration between iPhone and the vehicle’s systems.
Unlike the original CarPlay, which primarily handled navigation, calls, and media, CarPlay Ultra now supports a fully immersive interface that spans across all driver displays including the instrument cluster enabling real-time data such as speed, fuel level, tire pressure, and advanced driver assistance systems.
“This next generation of CarPlay gives drivers a smarter, safer way to use their iPhone in the car, while deeply integrating with the car’s systems and showcasing the unique look and feel of each automaker,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing.

CarPlay Ultra introduces dynamic, customizable layouts that reflect the brand identity of each manufacturer.
Apple’s design team collaborates directly with automakers to create tailor-made themes, ensuring a cohesive and branded user experience. Drivers can personalize interface elements such as colors and wallpapers, and access widgets powered by iPhone that seamlessly fit into the car’s display system.
Users can also operate CarPlay Ultra through physical vehicle controls or voice commands using Siri.
The system is capable of managing standard vehicle functions, including climate control and audio settings, as well as more advanced configurations such as performance tuning and sound system calibration.
Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, Adrian Hallmark stated that Aston Martin is delighted to have collaborated with Apple and to be the first to launch CarPlay Ultra.
“This integration is a clear example of our commitment to working with world-leading technology partners to enhance the in-vehicle experience.
“CarPlay Ultra builds upon our next-generation infotainment system, providing additional functionality and personalization that places Aston Martin at the forefront of digital innovation in the automotive sector,” he added.
Apple also confirmed that additional carmakers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, have committed to adopting CarPlay Ultra in upcoming vehicle models, signalling broader industry adoption of the platform in the near future.
