Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 17e in Malaysia, positioning it as the most affordable model in the iPhone 17 lineup while still offering powerful performance.
Starting at RM2,999, the iPhone 17e now comes with 256GB of storage as the base option, doubling the entry storage compared to the previous generation while maintaining the same starting price.
More Power with the A19 Chip
At the core of the iPhone 17e is Apple’s latest-generation A19 chip, built on advanced 3-nanometer technology.
The new processor delivers faster speeds and improved efficiency, handling everything from daily tasks like browsing and social media to more demanding applications and gaming.
Apple says the upgraded 6-core CPU is up to twice as fast as the chip found in iPhone 11 , while the enhanced Neural Engine supports Apple Intelligence features designed for AI-driven tasks and generative models.
The device also introduces the new C1X modem, which is up to twice as fast as the previous C1 modem used in iPhone 16e and consumes 30% less energy. This contributes to improved battery life and better overall efficiency.
Advanced 48MP Camera with 2x Telephoto
Despite its more accessible price point, the iPhone 17e features a powerful 48MP Fusion camera system. The camera enables an optical-quality 2x telephoto zoom, effectively giving users two cameras in one.
Users can shoot at full 48MP resolution or use the 24MP default setting for a balance between image quality and file size.
Portrait photography also sees improvements, with the system automatically recognising people, dogs, and cats and capturing depth information for post-shot editing .
For video creators, the device supports 4K recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames per second.
Durable Design with Premium Finish
The iPhone 17e retains Apple’s premium design language with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display protected by Ceramic Shield 2, offering three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation.
It is also rated IP68 for splash, water, and dust resistance , reinforcing its durability for everyday use.
The device is available in three matte finishes: black, white, and a new soft pink.
MagSafe and Faster Charging
The iPhone 17e supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W. With wired USB-C charging, users can power the device up to 50% in around 30 minutes.
MagSafe compatibility also allows access to a wide ecosystem of accessories, including cases, wallets, chargers, and stands.
Satellite Connectivity and Safety Features
Apple continues to expand its safety ecosystem with satellite-based features. When outside of cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, users can access Emergency SOS, Messages, Roadside Assistance, and Find My via satellite.
The device also supports Crash Detection, which can automatically contact emergency services in the event of a severe accident .
Availability in Malaysia
The iPhone 17e will be available for pre-order starting March 4, with official availability beginning March 1. It comes in 256GB and 512GB storage options, starting at RM2,999.
