Alexa, play Taylor Swift…. Again

Taylor Swift remained the most talked-about celebrity in Australian homes in 2025, once again topping the list of questions asked to Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa, as music and everyday life dominated how Australians used smart speakers over the past year.
According to Amazon’s newly released “Alexa’s Most Asked Questions” report, Australians repeatedly turned to Alexa for everything from pop culture curiosity and music requests to cooking tips, sports scores and religious prayer times.
Swift claimed the number one spot for the second consecutive year, with users asking about her height, net worth, relationships and frequently requesting her songs.
She also led the list of most requested artists on Amazon Music in Australia, reinforcing her continued dominance across both conversation and streaming habits.
Music trends extended well beyond global pop stars. A fictional K-pop group from Netflix’s hit series KPop Demon Hunters emerged as an unexpected breakout, with multiple tracks landing in Amazon Music’s top 10 most requested songs.
“APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars ranked as the most requested song overall, while ROSÉ also topped the list of most requested local artists, highlighting Australia’s growing appetite for K-pop-influenced sounds.
Sport also featured heavily in Alexa queries throughout the year. AFL led as the most asked-about sport, with the Collingwood Magpies emerging as the most queried Australian team.
Only one NRL team, the Brisbane Broncos made it into the national top ten, underscoring the strong hold of Australian Rules Football on local audiences.
Beyond entertainment, Alexa usage offered insight into daily Australian life. Users frequently asked about population sizes of major countries, Islamic prayer times, and practical kitchen questions such as cooking eggs, chicken and vegetables.
Sleep-related queries, including how to fall asleep faster, were also among the most common requests, pointing to broader lifestyle concerns.
Country Manager for Amazon Alexa ANZ, Kate Gooden, said the data shows how Alexa has evolved into an everyday companion for Australians.
From chart-topping artists and footy clubs to home cooking and bedtime routines, the questions Australians asked Alexa in 2025 paint a picture of a nation deeply engaged with music, sport and the small details of daily life with Taylor Swift still firmly at the centre of the conversation.
